President Jeannine's  June Blog

As my year comes to an end, I want to thank all my Department Chairman, Hospital Reps, Deputy Reps, Gift Shop Chairman, Christmas Party Chairman, and Department Officers for the great job this year.

Laurel did a great job in keeping the office running smooth, and answers everyone’s questions.  I have enjoyed reading the great year end reports that the District Presidents prepared.  The number of hours, money donated to programs and projects are great and makes me proud to be a member of the “Largest Women’s Patriotic Organization in the World”.  I will be at Girls State May 27- June 1.  I look forward to seeing these young ladies step out of their comfort zones and make new lifelong friends.  Membership has been a Challenge, Lynn Pohlman has done a great job this year encouraging renew and rejoin.  Thank You!!

I hope to see all of you at State Convention June 6-8, 2019 at the Sheraton Hotel in Sioux Falls.  At the Saturday Luncheon Erin Bultje will speak on “Homeless Female Veterans” On Saturday Department Chairman will give a 3-minute report on the accomplishments of their Chairmanship.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their cards of support, get well, and especially Prayer as I battled cancer.  On June 17th I will get a stem cell transplant at Avera in Sioux Falls.  I feel great and hope the rest continues.  I am confident it will!  Thanks for all you’ve did this year.

Sympathies go out to Charles and Karen Lehr on the death of their sixteen year old Grandson. He is the son of John and Hilary Schwagel. The Funeral will be Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank SD Friday, October 12th at 3:30 pm.

I'm not sure how many of you were members and/or leaders in your local, district or department ALA while Pat Coyle was Secretary. It is with heavy heart that we have to say good bye to Pat as she has gone to her eternal life.

The arrangements are Sunday, October 14, 2018, there will be a visitation from noon to 2 PM, with a prayer service at 1:30 at the funeral home in Huron. The funeral service is scheduled for Monday October 15, at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huron.

Cards may be sent to the Family of Pat Coyle, 752 Kansas Ave, SE, Huron, SD 57350

A personal side note from Rose: Pat is like the backbone to all of the Auxiliary Members in South Dakota. When you speak to people who worked with her as our Department Secretary they have nothing but praise for her, the job she did and her commitment to our Veterans through the Auxiliary. It is time that we step up to the plate and be the new Pat Coyle of today. God blessed us with Pat and know Pat is sharing her eternal life with him. God Bless.

Prayers and deepest sympathy to PDP Barb Vetter on the loss of her mother, Regina Heidereich. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 2nd.
