Longtime Auxiliary member, Jean Clarke, 81, of Wessington, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church, Wessington. Private burial will be at Wessington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by a 7:00 p.m. prayer service Thursday, October 5, 2017, all at the church in Wessington.

Jean was a wonderful mentor and influence to everyone she met.

Curtis O. Eggers, 93, of Renner died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, October 9, 2017 at Renner Lutheran Church, Renner. Burial with Military Honors will be in the East Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic. Visitation with the family present will be from 2-5:00 PM Sunday at the church.

Family requests memorials be directed to Renner Lutheran Church.

It is with great sadness to report from Sharon Broghammer, Mitchell, SD, that Al W. Iverson passed away on the evening of 10/12/17 at the Sioux Falls VA Hospital.

Please keep our Auxiliary sister and Past Department Secretary, Pat Coyle, in your thoughts and prayers. NEC, Susie Clyde, reported that Pat had a medical episode while in Chamberlain and was flown to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. She is in ICU and her daughters report that she has had a mild stroke. Susie will be sending out updates as she receives them from Pat's family.                                                                                                                                                  Per Susie's recent email....this is the most recent information regarding Pat-

 Right now she will be in ICU for a few more days....will then do some physical therapy and when she is well enough will be sent back to Huron. Cards can be sent to her home address and the girls will make sure she gets them, the address is:

Per an email sent out by Carol Edwards, National Legislative Chairman:

    I am asking that you please keep PDP President Elda Hoffer and her family in your prayers.

    Elda's son Bryon had brain cancer in 1979 when he was just 15 years, now he is the battle of      his life a second time.

    Bryon was taken to Avera Mckennan hospital on November 20th where surgery was                  performed to remove a tumor the size of a tangerine.  They removed as much as they could,      however he is now undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.  This tumor is classified as a          grade 4 and is very aggressive.  Bryon is currently at the Ipswich Nursing Home (where              Elda works) and taking treatments in Aberdeen.

    Please keep Elda and her family in your prayers as they have a long road to recovery ahead      of them.

I just spoke with Doris Ann Werlinger this morning.  Doris Ann's appendix ruptured on January 4th, she had emergency surgery on January 6th; she was discharged from the hospital on January 16th and is now home recovering.

Please keep District 6 President, Linda Holmes, and State Commander, Homer Holmes, in your thoughts and prayers. Linda's mother, Lucile Stirling, passed away on the morning of 3/06/18. 

Services for Lucile Stirling will be Saturday, March 10th, 10:30am, at Scared Heart Catholic Church, Parkston.

Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 5:00-7:00pm, at Bitter Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.  A Wake will be held at 7:00pm Friday.

 PDP Elda Hoffer's son Byron is battling brain cancer.

Elda has shared that tests  indicated the cancer has spread, Byron is having a very difficult time right now and is not doing well.  Please continue to keep Elda and her family in your prayers.

PDP Elda Hofer’s son Byron, who is battling brain cancer, is not doing well. He was put on hospice care on Friday the 23rd, Please pray for comfort during this time.

Past Dept President Lorraine Huntimer passed away on April 4 at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. She served as Dept President in 1987-1988. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Monday at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:30-10:15 AM followed by procession to church for mass.

Please pray for PDP Elda Hoffer and her family. Her son Bryon passed away on Sunday afternoon after a tough battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14th in Roscoe SD at 10:30 at the Lutheran Church.  Arrangements are being handled by the Gramm Funeral Home out of Ipswich, SD.

May our Lord Jesus Christ wrap His loving arms around Elda and her family. We pray the Lord will give them strength and comfort and may the memories sustain them until they are reunited. 




Carolyn Johnson, 73, of Box Elder, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

She moved to Rapid City in 1973 and worked for SCI for 24 years before retiring as a supervisor.  She was a member of St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary of Box Elder as a charter member.  She was a state representative for the American Legion Auxiliary.  

Visitation will be Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 3-5 pm with a prayer service at 5 pm at Kirk Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Therese of the Little Flower at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.

She is survived by her children; Troy (Nicole) Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; Lisa (Mike) Williams of Rapid City, Tara (Ronnie) Wolf of Rapid City; 7 grandchildren; Michael Williams, Jamie Williams, Austin Wolf, Carlie Wolf, Alec Johnson, Elise Johnson, Adam Johnson; 1 great-grandchild, Adalynne Dahlberg; and a very special friend, Dennis Hubbard.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Johnson.
